Cable Connectors

A prominent part of the underground cable accessories are the connectors at the joints. Ensto’s mechanical cable connectors have been designed to make installation as easy and effortless as possible. All cable connectors are equipped with shear-head bolts, which guarantee a reliable and uniform installation without the need for special tools.

Connectors and Lugs for Low Voltage

The comprehensive range of mechanical connectors and lugs for low voltage cables covers a wide range of commonly used cross-sections between 6 to 300 mm². The connectors and lugs can be used on cables with both aluminum and copper conductors up to 1 kV and are suitable for solid, stranded, sector and round conductors.

Thanks to the shear-head bolt construction no compression tools are needed. The required force is achieved by tightening the bolt until it breaks off All connectors and lugs are longitudinally watertight.

Connectors and Lugs for Medium Voltage

Ensto’s medium voltage connector and lug offering covers a wide cross-section range from 10 mm² to 800 mm². The connectors and lugs can be used on cables with aluminum and copper conductors up to 42 kV and are suitable for solid, stranded, sector and round conductors.

The connectors and lugs have a screw design with stepless shearing – the screw always breaks at the correct point during installation at the surface level. This is important because underground cable installations are often made under very challenging conditions.

The electrical properties of the shapes are optimized by simulations – the effect of the electric field is minimized at each location and there are no sharp edges at all. One of the newest features is a connectors' semi-conductive cap, which makes the connector installation faster and it is not needed to add mastic in the screw holes.

The products are type tested according to the newest standards requirements in Ensto's own accredited laboratory, which ensures high quality of the products.
