The four equal insulated conductors, that share the tensile load equally, have size range of 16 to 185 mm². They are made of aluminum with a relatively high tensile strength. Therefore, the breaking load of the cable is relatively high, too. Insulation of the cores is typically made of XLPE or PE. T.

An insulated messenger wire cable consists of one to five black, weather resistant, high density or cross-linked, polyethylene insulated conductors twisted around an insulated aluminum alloy messenger (typical tensile strength 300 N/mm²).

The messenger, which is also the neutral conductor, takes all the mechanical stress. The cross section of the phase conductors can vary from 16 to 185 mm² to meet the load current, maximum acceptable voltage drop and short circuit current of the network. The size of the messenger varies from 25 to 95 mm², depending on mechanical and electrical conditions.

LV ABC – Low Voltage Aerial Bundled Cable handbook

The Uninsulated Messenger Wire System (AMKA) is a reliable, safe and easy way to build low voltage overhead line network. Thanks to few components and short poles it is very favorable to build. The uninsulated messenger cable consists of one to five black, weather resistant polyethylene insulated conductors (high density or cross-linked). The conductors are twisted around a bare aluminum alloy messenger (tensile strength 300 N/mm²). AMKA is used e.g. in Finland, Estonia, Hungary, Russia and Turkey.

Ensto's selection for Uninsulated Messenger Wire System consists of tension clamps, suspension clamps and terminal clamps.

Plastic covered overhead conductors without metal sheaths, PAS and BLL/BLX conductors, were developed in order to improve the reliability of the distribution and transfer of electricity. Covered Conductor (CC) line construction costs are moderate, considering their advantages over traditional bare line structures.  

Ensto's Full Covered Conductor Solution provides even more complete protection for the line than traditional CC solution. In addition for the covering of the conductors, other live parts of the line have been covered also such as insulators, suspension- and tension clamps, connectors, etc. This has been done to acquire even more protection from wildlife, such as birds and squirrels, and to prevent interruptions in the distribution of electricity.

Ensto's products for the conventional Bare Conductors cover common conductors. The comprehensive range of the accessories provides a simple and economic system for line erection. They comply with the most commonly used European standards. The Ensto accessories for Bare Conductors like connectors, insulators, surge arresters etc. are designed in co-operation with power supply companies. They are easy to install and have long service life in extremely hard climatic conditions.
