Ensto’s circuit breakers are equipped with a digital trip unit, which observes the thermal image of the transformer. The main advantage of the digital trip is that in an overload situation, as the transformer temperature will increase and the load will reach the limit level, the circuit breaker will switch off (trip).
When the circuit breaker is closed, a spark gap limits the rise in the potential of the low voltage neutral from the earth for a value exceeding 10 kV. When the circuit breaker is open, an electrical connection is done between the transformer neutral and the ground. This ensures that the transformer stays protected without damage. Hence, the working life of the transformer will be longer, which in turn brings a better return on investment for the utility.
As the circuit breakers have a very compact size of a laptop computer, they are easy to store, handle and install.
