Screw Design Counts for Reliability in the Grid
Ensto’s mechanical cable connectors and lugs have a new kind of an innovative screw design with stepless shearing. It makes the installation easy, safe, and secure and the screw can be scaled to fit various connector and lug sizes, covering a range from 10 mm² to 800 mm².
First of all, instead of several installation tools, our products only need one tool for installation. Second, the screw always breaks at the right place on the surface level. These benefits truly minimize the probability for faulty installations. We have one technology, and one installation technique. This is a substantial advantage for our customers.
With the older generation products, the installers sometimes have challenges with the screw cut-off point because the conductor cross-section is indicated based on electrical performance – not the actual physical diameter. Thanks to our meticulous and innovative design, this concern is now a thing of the past.

Growing Connector and Lug Family
The totally new type of a robust connector and lug family was launched in 2021 and it has been expanding with new sizes ever since: from 10–95 mm², 25–150 mm² and 50–240 mm² to 95–300 mm², 185–400 mm² and 300–630 mm². Now the family is growing with the next size 400-800 mm², and the largest size 630–1000 mm² will be ready at the end of 2024.

Larger conductor cross-sections are a global trend – the demand for capacity is increasing and thus the cross-sections are increasing. Larger cross-sections also support the needs of distributed production such as wind farms and solar power plants and electric vehicle public charging stations, to mention some.
