At Ensto the greatest and most important asset are the people and I truly enjoy the family-like business culture we have. The employees are professional and nice, and the cooperation is seamless. We take good care of the business profitability, too.
The Irish Renley was acquired by Ensto in 2020 and becoming part of a big, multinational business has offered several opportunities for learning. We used to be a small family company and there definitely has been a huge number of changes after the acquisition. However, as the companies share the same values, the integration has been successful. I personally like the autonomous style where we can decide how we run the business on our local markets – as long as we do it in line with the strategy and the numbers are good.
I work as the Operations Manager at Ensto Renley in Dublin. I have worked within production supervising and managing almost my whole career but before entering the electrification business the industry was different: manufacturing of large transport refrigeration units for trucks and trailers. I started my work life many years ago as a sheet metal welder, in 2001 I began at Renley as Production Supervisor and was appointed Production Manager in 2008. I am not an electrical technical person but have strong financial and people expertise and always focus on shareholder value.
Ensto values are excellent and nicely aligned with my own values. The company is also conscious of what is happening in the world today and is morally and ethically aware of its responsibilities. We are concentrating on high item issues such as environment and sustainable development and doing a lot of related actions. Ensto has introduced a high-performing well-being program and we have regular team-building days for the whole Ensto Renley team. Today we are having 5–6 days per year to enhance the team spirit and cohesion, and to develop our working and social relationships in an external environment where people can relax. At the same time, the relationships become stronger and getting to know your colleagues on a different level is good for enhancing the business performance, too.
We sell our products mainly in Ireland and the UK where there are numerous utilities. We do not sell just products but true solutions and that is something our customers value. Our way of doing things includes a lot of pre and after sales support and we take excellent care of our customers. Maintaining this culture is super important and in sync with our values and financial targets. I feel we have been able to transfer our knowledge and expertise to the benefit of Ensto, and my constant aim is to create more value for the shareholders.
The health and safety and well-being of our Ensto Renley team is our highest priority in our business. We have a moral and legal obligation to care for our people and ensure that we all work in a safe environment. The Ensto values support our commitment in a safe, secure, and friendly workplace. The development of a really positive culture within our business helps to support our goals.
