Ensto complements its product range with Composite Line Post Insulators, which are designed for 24 kV overhead lines.
The introduction of composite line post insulators marks a significant step forward in enhancing the reliability and durability of electricity distribution networks. These insulators represent a shift toward more modern and resilient overhead lines.
Reliable Performance for Demanding Overhead Networks
Traditional porcelain insulators have served the industry well for decades, but they come with certain challenges. Porcelain is a fragile material that can easily break during installation or under overvoltage stress – leading to leakage currents and faults in the network.
The new composite line post insulator represents a response to the everyday challenges faced in medium-voltage overhead networks. Built from durable and weather-resistant composite, it offers a modern alternative to porcelain and plastic insulators – combining strength, safety, and ease of installation.
- Durability: Composite is more robust and less prone to damage during installation
- Overvoltage Resistance: Improved resistance to overvoltages helps reduce the risk of electrical leakage and faults in the electricity distribution networks
- Long Service Life: Composite insulators require less maintenance and offer extended longevity
Ease of Installation
When designing the new product, special attention was paid to easy installation. One of its new features is the integrated plastic sleeve in the top groove, which enables smooth and efficient conductor pulling during installation. This eliminates the need for separate pulling wheels, reducing complexity in the field and enabling faster, safer workflow.
In addition to easy handling, the insulator ensures electrical reliability. The silicone-coated fiberglass core helps prevent corona discharge, while the design maintains over 150 mm of insulating distance between the crossarm and the conductor. Together, these features enhance safety, reduce the risk of faults, and ensure stable long-term performance even in demanding conditions.
The silicone sheds resist UV radiation and electrical stress, and their self-cleaning properties minimize the need for maintenance – making the product a low-maintenance solution for modern distribution networks.
